Dr. Jasmine Kim

Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) are trained to diagnose and treat non-urgent medical conditions. Their approach is particularly effective, though not limited to, managing chronic conditions influenced by lifestyle factors such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, psycho-social wellbeing, and more. While NDs as a profession don’t specialize in specific health conditions, individual practitioners often gravitate towards particular areas based on their personal experiences and interests.

Dr. Jaz is experienced in all areas of holistic healing but puts focus on physical rehabilitation, pain and stress management, and optimizing gut health. She has a strong passion for helping individuals manage life transitions (ex. perimenopause and adolescence), and believes that fostering healthy lifestyle habits in these transitional stages can significantly improve long-term well-being. Since preventing disease and injury is a fundamental principle of naturopathic medicine, exercise therapeutics is a key component of Dr. Jaz’s practice, which includes movement screening and customized exercise programming. Dr. Jaz, along with the team at Crossover Athletics, are committed to supporting people of all ages on their journey to optimal health and overall well-being.

Why should I be screened by a physiotherapist before initiating an exercise program?

As we age, our body is subtly adjusting and adapting to the various demands we place upon it. During the growth spurt, it is common to develop muscle imbalances that in some teens result in altered movement patterns and poor stabilization strategies that can continue through into adulthood. How we end up moving and stabilizing as an adult is often a combination of our genetics, our lifestyle and how our body has evolved or adapted to the varying loads we place it under.

Sheana Lehigh is dedicated to one-on-one treatments and she has a special clinical interest in orthopaedics, senior health, dance injuries, sports physiotherapy, TMJD, chronic/persistent pain management and manual therapy. Treatments provided include GunnIMS (Intramuscular Stimulation/*CGIMS), dry needling, advanced manual therapy (FCAMPT), exercise therapy, education for self-management, and modalities. Sheana has also studied physiotherapy in New Zealand, and has worked as a physiotherapist in the United Kingdom. Sheana has been a competitive ballet and modern dancer since she was five years old, and now she also enjoys yoga, hiking, skiing, biking, running and swimming. Lastly, Sheana contributes to the UBC School of Physiotherapy as a clinical skills assistant in musculoskeletal courses. All people and genders are welcome. Understanding the Left AIC & Right BC Pattern: Why It Matters

The Left Anterior Interior Chain (Left AIC) and Right Back Chain (Right BC) pattern is a common postural and movement pattern that affects how your body aligns and functions. This pattern is characterized by a specific imbalance where the left side of the body tends to be more forward and the right side more backward.

Key Features:

  • Left AIC: This pattern often involves a forward-tilted pelvis on the left side, which can lead to increased curvature in the lower back and tightness in the left hip flexors.
  • Right BC: This refers to a more backward-tilted pelvis on the right side, often resulting in tightness in the right hamstrings and lower back.
